Federal Member of Parliament, Mr Mark Dreyfus QC, MP: Topics discussed during the presentation and the Q&A session
At its inaugural event, the Capital Jewish Forum had the opportunity to hear Mr Mark Dreyfus QC, MP speak on a range of issues at the Australian Parliament House.
Some of the issues covered by Mr Dreyfus during his presentation and the subsequent Q&A session include:
Numerous major events undertaken by the Government since Mr Dreyfus’ election which were of personal significance included:
· apology to Aborigines;
· Parliamentary Motion for Israel’s 60th birthday;
· withdrawal from the Durban II Conference;
· passing legislation recognising Israel’s “red crystals” (Magen David Adom – equivalent to the Red Cross/Crescent); and
· the first Australia-Israel Leadership Forum in Israel, attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Labor and Liberal parliamentarians.
Mr Dreyfus also noted the importance of involvement in public life and making a contribution to society.
